This blog is a support resource for Le Salon Brussels, a discussion group hosted on Meetup.com. We will not post events here, but we will post material relevant to discussion evenings, such as subject overviews and links. There is also a Twitter account, @LeSalonBxl, which you can follow in order to receive communications from the group. Use #LeSalonBxl for discussions within the group. Note that you can get Twitter updates by email using a service like Tweetalarm. These functions will mainly serve for logistical and similar discussions around events as other contributions can be posted on Meetup itself under the relevant event, or as a comment in reaction to posts on these blog pages.

In order to receive the discussion notes as they are posted, subscribe by RSS or email to the blog or favorite it in WordPress.

Le Salon Brussels is a social network for discussion of science, art, politics, philosophy and literature, with the aim of learning, sharing ideas, socializing and making friends. Think of it as a virtual space inspired by the French literary salons of the 17th to 19th century, infused with some of the democratic and progressive spirit of Bohemian coffeehouse culture. Events may take the form of speaker meetings, discussion circles, cultural outings or social get-togethers: the kind of thing your alumni organization may organize perhaps, but open to the whole community and taking place right here in town. If you always wondered what it would be like to host your own salon, welcome on board : your ideas and enthusiasm will be very welcome. We will host events in English and French as well as other languages to the extent there is interest.
